Scout Officers - We will be having a PLC meeting. On the agenda is the discussion of spring activities.
This Week’s Meeting – This week we will be working on the personal fitness classroom work and cleaning up from Trappers Rendezvous.
Highland Park and Richmond Elementary Crossovers – I need at least 3 scouts for crossover ceremonies on Feb. 8th at Highland Park Elem. And March 21st at Richmond Elem. I need three scouts each week to take on speaking roles in the ceremony. These scouts must be able to come early (6:00 p.m.) to the troop meeting on the 31st of January to practice the ceremony. These events can fulfill a requirement for the Communication Merit Badge.
Merit Badge University – Our Merit Badge University will take place the Saturdays of Feb. 5th and 12th at our Scout Hut from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We will be offering the following Eagle Required merit badges: Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, and Communications. Permission slip attached.
Merit Badge University/Scout Sunday – Following n Feb. 12th we will be having a lock-in at the Scout Hut and on Sunday the 13th we will be participating in the First United Methodist Church’s Scout Sunday. The fee for this activity will be $6 and will include dinner and snacks on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. This is an fun and enriching event for the scouts, who will probably be wanting to let off some steam after class work all day, and it also provides a wonderful opportunity for the church to see the wonderful group of young men that they so generously sponsor. Permission slip attached.
Ouachita Trek / Shakedown – There will be a required Ouachita Trek Shakedown for any scout who is planning on attending the trek for the first time Feb. 26-27 at Lake McMurtry.
