Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each of you and your families. I’m hopeful that each of you enjoyed our 2009 adventures and I look forward to what 2010 holds for each of us.

Christmas Party – We will hold our annual Christmas Party on Monday, December 21st. Please make sure you’re signed up to bring treats. Also, remember to bring a wrapped gift for our “Dirty Santa” exchange. The more outrageous the gift, the better.
Remember: All family members are welcome!

Council Merit Badge University – The Council MBU is set for January 9th and 23rd in Enid. We are taking sign-ups and will be taking one of the FUMC vans for transportation. The permission slip as well as the offered MB’s can be found on our website or at the following address:
http://www.bsatroop818.com/PermissionSlips/MeritBadgeUniversity.pdf

Please return the permission slip and the MB selection sheet no later than Monday, December 21st. If you can bring it earlier, do so as the 21st will be a little crazy with the Christmas Party.

Eskimo Joe’s Scouting Adventure – The shirts are now in and available at Eskimo Joe’s Clothes. What a great Christmas gift idea.

Centennial Eagle Scout Banquet – Planning is about to begin for a gala that will bring together all of the Eagle Scouts that reside within Pawnee Bill District. The purpose will be to honor and reconnect these Scouters. The event will be held at the FUMC Family Life Center on February 5th. Mr. Koemel will serve as a member of the steering committee. Our Scouts will serve at the function in some capacity.

Ouachita Trek – The 31st Annual Ouachita Trek will take place on March 13 – 17. The cost of the trek will be $70 per Scout. $10 will cover our transportation costs and $60 will go for the food, park fees, etc. There will also be a Shakedown for all first timers, and rangers, that will cost $10 per Scout. The Shakedown will take place on February 27-28 at Lake McMurtry.
Mason Strom has volunteered to be a Ranger for one of the treks. Given his Philmont experience, I would recommend signing up with him as you’ll have a great experience.
The permission slip may be found on the Troop website:

Webelos Fun Night, Lock-in, MB Fair – Thank you to all who attended and assisted with our Webelos Fun Night, Lock-in and Merit Badge Fair. I think everyone had a great time.

Webelos Fun Night Lost & Found – I can tell that the boys had fun in that some items were lost during the event. Please let me know if you can help locate the owners. Here’s what I have so far:
1. Brown Corduroy Old Navy Jacket – Resolved.
2. Found: Tan Class A Uniform. No patches or badges, except the United States flag.

Advancement – We will focus on the advancement of our first year Scouts during our regular Troop Meetings. Please bring your books to the meetings so that we know what you need for your next rank progression.

Scout Notes - Monday, December 7, 2009

Webelos Family Night – Let’s get excited! We will be hosting our annual Webelos Family Fun Night on Friday from 6:00pm – 10:00pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to have some fun with a relatively unstructured agenda. We will be serving Dutch Oven Pizzas shortly after 6:00pm which will be followed by Donuts. We will also provide branding for anyone that brings their mugs. (Sorry, we won’t be branding any Scouts as this event….) You can also look forward to great games of 4-Square, Pool, Foosball and whatever else we can dream up.

Parents need not attend this event, but it’s requested that you please pick your Webelos up by 10:00pm.

The Boy Scouts will engage in a lock-in after the Webelos leave.

Advancement – We will focus on the advancement of our first year Scouts during our regular Troop Meetings. Please bring your books to the meetings so that we know what you need for your next rank progression.
