Pictures on the Web

Visit our Troop Website to see pictures from Hornaday Weekend and from our Troop/Canoe Meetings from this summer. These slideshows will be updated again shortly as I know that there are more pictures from these events that are on the come. We will also be posting pictures from our Illinois River Float Trip shortly.

We have also just purchased a Troop Camera that the Scouts will use to record our various adventures. Our hope is to get the Scout’s viewpoint, so hold on tight. There’s no telling what we’ll see.

Canoe/Camp Weekend

We will be gathering at the Scout Hut at 08:00am on Saturday for our Hike/Canoe and Camp Weekend at Lake McMurtry. Please be prompt so that we may leave on time. Some things to keep in mind:

Troop Gear – If you need sleeping bags, pads, a Nalgene or other gear, please see

the adult leaders before we leave the Hut. These may be checked out.

Personal Gear – The forecast says that there’ll be no rain on Saturday or Sunday. Even

so, please bring rain gear, one extra set of footwear and at least one change of dry clothes

and a towel in case you capsize your canoes. The trails will be somewhat muddy and a pair

of shoes that can get wet will be needed for anyone entering the water.

Popcorn Sales

We’re under way with our popcorn sales.

Remember, Popcorn Sales can help you pay for your various camping adventures. The more you sell, the more money you’ll have to pay for things like: Summer Camp, Camporees and other fun activities. In one case we had a Scout that fully financed their year, including a trip to Philmont and Boundary Waters.

Note: Each Scout is expected to sell enough popcorn to cover our annual fee of $75. This fee covers the cost of our annual chartering process, patches and other costs associated with running the Troop. Any income beyond this point will be kept in an account that the Scout will draw upon for activities. If a Scout is not able to sell enough popcorn to make the $75, any difference will need to be “bought out” and settled with the Troop Treasurer.

Key Dates:

Orders Due: Monday, October 19th.

Popcorn Delivery: We should have the popcorn on Thursday, November 5th.

Advancement – We will focus on the advancement of our first year Scouts during our Troop Meetings. Please bring your books to the meetings so that we know what you need for your next rank progression.

Four Scouts didn’t attend Summer Camp and will require a special session during a weekend or during our Merit Badge Fair to play catch-up. These Scouts include: Harlan, Raife, Joey and Tamaki. Meeting Schedule

Knots – Learn a new knot. Remember to bring your ropes.
